Healthier Burger & Chips ... Skip the Takeaway!

The issues with a burger are as follows..
The amount of poor quality trans fats, too much sodium, too many calories and processed bread with lots of sauces packed with fat, sugar and salt. This home made option is higher in protein and lower in fat so you can eat guilt free!
1 red onion finely chopped
1 tbsp olive oil
500g lean minced beef (or turkey)
2 tsp chilli paste
2 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp tomato ketchup and brown sauce
2 tbsp plain flour
Toppings of your choice e.g. salad/wholemeal bun/roll/pitta/cheese
Sides of your choice e.g salad or sweet potato chips
Firstly, Heat the oil in the frying pan and fry the onion until soft and leave to cool. Put the onion in a large bowl and add the mince, egg, chilli, garlic, ketchup and brown sauce and mix well to combine. Divide the mince into balls and flatten to a flat burger shape.
Put the flour on a plate and lightly dab each burger and then transfer to a baking tray. Wrap with cling film and put in fridge for a couple of hours. Drizzle the burgers with a little olive oil and put in the oven to cook for around 20 to 30 minutes, flipping half-way.
Serve the burgers with your choice of salad such as lettuce, red onion and tomatoes and low fat cheese. Go bunless for a low carb or keto option (or alternatively have with a wholemeal bun and/or sweet potato wedges.
